Expat Talks! | Episode 2: How Carol Zucca Found a True Home in Spain
Moving to Spain is often about more than changing countries—it’s about finding a place where you truly belong. That’s exactly what happened to Carol Zucca, the guest of our second episode of Expat Talks.
After visiting Spain several times over the years, Carol and her husband decided to turn their dream into reality and relocate through Spain’s Non-Lucrative Visa. In this heartfelt conversation, Carol shares not only the legal journey behind her move, but also the personal experiences that transformed Spain from a favorite destination into a place she proudly calls home.
“It’s hard to say when Spain started feeling like home because it felt like home the whole time.”
Having spent the last two years living in Valencia, Carol speaks warmly about the kindness and generosity she has encountered throughout her journey. As she puts it, “The people are wonderful.” From friendly neighbors to everyday interactions, she describes how welcomed and supported she has felt since arriving in Spain.
Carol also talks about learning Spanish, something she strongly recommends to other expats. Currently taking language classes herself, she even shares a few Spanish phrases during the interview and reflects on how learning the language has helped her connect more deeply with the local culture and community.
Perhaps the most touching moment of the episode comes when Carol reflects on what “home” truly means. When asked when Spain started feeling like home, her answer was simple and powerful: “It’s hard to say when Spain started feeling like home because it felt like home the whole time.”
Her story is a beautiful reminder that relocation is not only about visas and paperwork—it’s also about building connections, embracing new experiences, and creating a life that feels right. Watch the full episode below and discover Carol’s inspiring journey to Spain.
