Digital Nomad Visa Spain Requirements

Spain’s international teleworker route is for eligible third-country nationals who carry out employment or professional activity remotely for companies established outside Spain using computer, telematic and telecommunications systems.

Employment, Freelance and Company Requirements

The applicant must normally demonstrate a qualifying labour or professional relationship with the foreign company or companies. Current UGE guidance requires evidence of at least three months of prior employment or professional relationship, and evidence that the foreign company has carried out real and continuous activity for at least one year.

Financial Means for the Digital Nomad Visa

UGE currently requires the main applicant to demonstrate monthly resources equivalent to 200% of the applicable Spanish minimum wage (SMI). Additional percentages apply for accompanying family members. The exact euro threshold should be checked when the application is filed because the SMI can change.

Applying from Spain or Through a Consulate

The route can involve a visa application through a Spanish consulate or, where the legal conditions are met, a residence-authorisation application from Spain through the Unidad de Grandes Empresas y Colectivos Estratégicos (UGE). The correct route affects documentation, timing and post-approval steps.

Employee or Independent Professional?

The evidence differs depending on whether the applicant is employed or works as an independent professional. Contracts, company authorisation for remote work, company activity, income evidence, qualifications or professional experience and Social Security documentation must be coordinated consistently.
